Jesus the Messiah the King - Matthew 10

 • Pastor Kevin Schaal • Series: Matthew Through Jewish Eyes

In this message from Matthew chapter 10, we explore a pivotal moment in Jesus’ earthly ministry—His deliberate offer of Himself as the Messiah and the Kingdom to the house of Israel. This passage marks a turning point, filled with fulfillment of prophecy, compassionate urgency, and a direct call to action. ✽ Proof of the Messiah – Jesus fulfills Isaiah 35:4-6 through miraculous signs: the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the Good News is preached to the poor. ✽ The Need for the Messiah – Jesus, moved with compassion for the harassed and scattered multitudes, calls His disciples to pray and go—because the harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. ✽ The Offer of the Kingdom – Jesus sends His disciples exclusively to Israel with a bold message: “The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.” They are equipped, instructed, and sent out in faith. ✽ Reception of the Messiah – This offer comes with both blessing and rejection. Some will welcome the message, while others will reject it—even entire cities and families. But the call remains: be bold, be faithful, and proclaim the King. This sobering yet hopeful chapter reminds us that Jesus is not just a teacher or miracle worker—He is the promised King, the true Messiah. How will you respond to the King and His Kingdom? Will you take up your cross and follow Jesus?
